At Camp Waratah bay there was a activity called the flying fish {giant swing}. That was my favorite activity. My group was the Tasmanian devils or group 3. In the Tasmanian devils five or six people went to the top. I went to the top. Camp Waratah was great.

At Camp Waratah Bay their was lots of activities. My favourite one was the Giant swing like most others. I came 3rd in my Red Faces act. I also liked the disco, we all had to get all dressed-up. Camp Waratah Bay was the best.

On camp waratah bay we had tons of activites like nitro crossing and the favourite the giant swing it was 13 metres high! The food was ok but the ice cream that we had was pretty good.I also liked the disco and red faces!

My favourite activites were Nitro Crossing and the Initiative Course. In Nitro crossing there are two poles about one metre and a half apart and there's a rope in the middle and you have to grab it and swing across with out touching the ground. You have to get your whole team across.

On Wednesday we went on a very exciting excursion. The 3/4's are currently studying different modes of transport, so we headed into the city for a busy day.
We were dropped off by bus at Yarra's Edge and caught a ferry around the Yarra and out into the docks. We saw container ships offloading cargo, the Queen of the Netherlands dredging ship, gondolas, the Bolte Bridge and lots of storage units. We took a ride on the top of the ferry and it was very windy! Lucky we had such wonderful weather as it was not cold at all!
We visited a playground that had interesting sculptures and then headed off to the tram stop to catch the City Circle Tram. It was very squishy on the tram, but we managed to catch three different trams in our groups and all arrived at Federation Square safely.
We would like to thank all of the mums that came with us on our journey and took lots of photos. It was a fantastic day and was enjoyed by all who attended.

Police in Schools.

Last week we had a visitor from the Victoria Police Force. Her name was Annette from the local police station. She spoke to us about the Police Force and some of the crimes that young people usually get in trouble for. She told us about criminal damage and theft. We got to ask her lots of questions about her job and she might even come back again so we can hear some more about what the police do for us.

Scienceworks Excursion

On May the 27th we went to Science Works. It was a beautiful day. The whole middle school went on the excursion to learn about the solar system. Everyone was so excited so most people didn't sleep the night before!

We travelled to Science Works in two big coaches. Some students complained because there were seatbelts. It took a long time to get to Science Works. The coaches stopped at lots of traffic lights as we travelled through the busy city traffic. From the West Gate Bridge we saw the cargo ships, tankers and docks. There were big cranes working on new buildings. Finally we got there!

We were met by our guide.She told us where to put our lunches and took us to the first activity, Earth, Moon and Sun. We learnt about the Earth's axis and tilt. She demonstrated how day and night and the seasons happen. We even saw some moon dust and rocks. She showed us an ancient Egyptian Shadow Clock and explained how it worked.

Next we split into two groups.One group went to Sports Works while the other group had lunch.
At Sports Works we tested out strength , peddled, played cricket and raced Cathy Freeman. It was exciting.

The Planetarium was fantastic. As we settled back into our seats the night sky appeared above us. We saw the Milky Way, far off galaxies and constellations. We learnt how to find north and south using the stars. We felt dizzy when our instructor spun the night sky. Some students nearly went to sleep, it was so beautiful and relaxing.

We did lots of fun maths challenges in the Maths Amazing area.
We visited House Secrets. It was heaps of fun. We made peddle power and generated enough electricity to make the toaster pop and the phone work. There were lots of other interesting secrest to discover.

We saw the huge shadow clock outside and played on the playground.
Then we walked to the pumping station. Another kind guide took us to the Straining Room. It was very smelly! She told us that the Pumping Station was built for five million Melbourne people and showed us a jar of false teeth that people lost down the drains. All sorts of other things went down the drains too!

Then it was time to leave. We were very exhausted but very happy.
